Scorely

Taking a timed AI-generated test and reading the results.

About the project

Scorely is an exam-practice app for CUET and UGC NET: previous papers and AI-generated ones, a timed exam screen, and results question by question.

Scorely helps students prepare for CUET and UGC NET: previous papers and AI-generated ones, a real exam screen with a timer, and results that explain every question.

It began in April 2025 as UGCNET-Prep-AI, which I then rebuilt as Scorely with Aashish Jaini. It's about half built, and scorely.in is offline.

How it works

  1. Sign in

    With Google.

  2. Pick a paper

A previous paper, or an AI-generated practice set.

  3. Take the test

A timed exam screen with a question palette.

  4. See results

A summary and an analysis of each question.

  5. Add papers

Admins upload papers as JSON and manage them.

Under the hood

App
Next.js 15, Prisma on Postgres, NextAuth.
AI
OpenAI, with every answer checked against a schema.
UI
TanStack Query, Chart.js and Framer Motion.

What I did

  • A first version (UGCNET-Prep-AI): AI mock tests, an exam timer saved on the server so a refresh doesn't lose time, English and Hindi, and PDF export
  • Restarted it as Scorely, with subjects, passages, practice sets and AI advice
  • The admin side: add papers as JSON, list and manage them
  • The exam flow: start, answer and submit, a timer, a question palette
  • Results with a summary and an analysis of each question
  • AI-generated questions with a checked format, and AI practice sets

Problems I hit, and how I fixed them

  1. The build failed because login settings were exported from a route file.

Fix Moved them to their own module.

  2. Old test routes duplicated the new flow.

    Fix Removed them.

To be clear

Aashish built the first test screen and parts of the admin. The gamified Scorely mobile app is a different codebase that isn't mine.
