Quiz apps
Three players racing on the live leaderboard.

About the project
Quiz games I built for the coding club at ARKA JAIN University in my second year, in plain JavaScript. Later, in 2024, a real-time multiplayer version where everyone plays at once.
In my second year at ARKA JAIN University I built quiz games for our college coding club: quizzes on computers, computer science, networking and operating systems, written in plain JavaScript with no framework, in July 2022.
In January 2024 I built a third one: a real-time multiplayer quiz where everyone answers the same question and watches a live leaderboard.
How it works
Join
Enter a name.
Same question for all
The server sends each question to every player at once.
Answer
Pick an option; the server scores it.
Leaderboard
Scores update live for everyone, with the top 3 highlighted.
What I did
- For the coding club: a topic picker and quizzes on computers, computer science and operating systems, built from data with plain DOM code
- A second version with one question at a time and a score screen
- A multiplayer quiz: a Socket.IO server sends each question to every player, scores answers and pushes a live leaderboard
- Deployed the front end on Netlify and the server on Render
What was new
- My first real-time app with WebSockets
- Running a front end and a server on separate hosts
Problems I hit, and how I fixed them
The first quiz locked a question on the first click.
Fix The second version lets you change your answer before moving on.

To be clear
Known bugs I never fixed: the second quiz doesn't score its last two questions, and in the multiplayer one any player's answer moves everyone on.
