About the project

An idea for HackBIOS 2K26: a WhatsApp assistant that answers students' doubts in Hindi from their own tuition teacher's notes, and passes the hard ones to her.

PadhaiBot is Team AstraTech AI's idea for HackBIOS 2K26: a WhatsApp assistant for tuition teachers. Students message their doubts in Hindi; it answers step by step from their own teacher's notes, and passes the questions it isn't sure about to the teacher.

The positioning is the point. Meta AI already helps students on WhatsApp; PadhaiBot is built for the teacher instead, on her own number, with her own material. What exists today is the website and a scripted demo. The bot itself wasn't built.

How it works

  1. A student asks

    In the demo, pick a sample doubt.

  2. A grounded answer

    A step-by-step answer in Hindi appears, as if from the teacher's notes.

  3. Unsure? Ask the teacher

    Low-confidence questions go to her morning queue. Designed, not built.

  4. Both sides

    Phone mockups show the student's chat and the teacher's chat.

What I did

  • Built the website and demo in one evening
  • A landing page with the teacher's story, how it differs from general chatbots, and pricing
  • A demo where you pick a sample doubt and watch a Hindi step-by-step answer appear
  • Phone mockups of the student's and the teacher's WhatsApp chats, with Hindi-ready fonts
  • The positioning: Meta AI is a tutor for the student. PadhaiBot is a tool for the tutor.

What was new

  • Positioning against a free giant by picking a different customer
  • Designing grounded answers with a human fallback for low-confidence questions
  • A Hindi-first interface

Problems I hit, and how I fixed them

  1. Meta AI already helps with Hindi homework on WhatsApp.

    Fix Build for the teacher, on her own number, with her own notes.

  2. A wrong answer could teach a child a mistake.

    Fix Answer only from her material, and send unsure questions to her morning queue.

  3. No backend existed before the final round.

    Fix A scripted demo to show the experience honestly.
