Mandeal

The buyer and seller screens.

About the project

Mandeal is a marketplace where farmers list crops with a minimum price per kg and buyers bid on them, so farmers don't have to take whatever a middleman offers.

Mandeal was our team's idea at my first hackathon, in February 2021: a marketplace where farmers list crops with a minimum price per kg and buyers bid on them, instead of farmers selling to middlemen at whatever price they're offered.

I designed and built the screens and animations overnight. Jay built the React app logic and the backend.

How it works

  1. List

A farmer lists a crop with a minimum price per kg.

  2. Browse

    Buyers see what's on offer.

  3. Bid

Bids start at the farmer's minimum.

  4. Highest bid

The highest bid is shown live.

What I did

  • Seven static screens in HTML and SCSS: landing, login, registration, and buyer and seller home and bidding pages
  • Animations for the React app, and a mobile layout
  • The team's React pages reused my screens

What was new

  • My first hackathon, working overnight
  • My first organised SCSS and keyframe animations

To be clear

The code doesn't enforce a guaranteed price: sellers set a minimum and bids start there. Jay built the React logic and the backend.
